About Himitsu

Born in Tokyo with inspiration from the sushi bars of Ginza and the Southern California lifestyle, Himitsu introduces Japanese culture,

design & hospitality to San Diego.

Our 9-person bar and 20 person outdoor patio is located in a discreet corner of

La Jolla, a setting well suited for our name which translates to “secret” in Japanese. 

Chef Mitsu Aihara presents a menu of traditional sushi and nigiri along with

Japanese style tapas using the highest quality products and ingredients. A carefully curated sake list is accompanied by select natural wines and essential Japanese and

local craft beers.

Shōwa Hospitality is a San Diego based consortium focused on developing

hospitality, food and culture concepts throughout the United States + Mexico.
